Draudeniai Recreation Area with a modern observation tower

Tauragė District now offers another new place worth adding to your list of trips around Lithuania. The observation tower by Draudeniai Lake is just one of the highlights in this newly renovated, over 5-hectare recreation area. The location officially opened to visitors on August 30. Here, you’ll find not only stunning views from the tower but also a beach, playgrounds and sports courts, piers, and plenty of spaces to relax in nature.

The observation tower by Draudeniai Lake has become one of the most striking features of the upgraded territory. From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views of the lake and surrounding landscape. Consequently, we believe this will become one of the most visited spots in the new recreation area.

However, the renewal goes far beyond just a new tower. The 5.3-hectare area includes beach zones, children’s playgrounds, outdoor gym equipment, volleyball and basketball courts, walking trails, and peaceful relaxation areas. There’s also a pier and dock by the water, and improved paths leading to and around the island.

New unique place in Lithuania: Šakalinio Park near Vilnius

Another new and uniquely beautiful destination has opened in Lithuania. Šakalinio Park is a magical world of fairy tale heroes near Vilnius. Here, as soon as you enter the forest, you step into a real-life fairy tale. Among the pines, you’ll find moving fairy tale characters, talking sculptures, mysterious houses, educational trails, and many unexpected activities for children.

What’s most surprising is that Šakalinio Park isn’t just another playground or family attraction. It’s a carefully crafted forest world where fairy tales literally come to life. When you approach the sculptures, they speak, move, and make sounds – children become part of the story. The impressive pine grove, huge playground, barefoot and mud trails, forest school, fallow deer, and many small surprises will amaze and delight everyone. Surely, this is a place you must visit with your family.

Šakalinio Park also focuses heavily on education. You’ll find an interactive bird trail with information about birds, and another interesting stop – the forest school.

After a peaceful walk through the fairy tale world, you can explore the park’s active zone. One of the top attractions here is the huge Šakalinio playground with impressive slides. There are also various swings, activities for both younger and older children, and zipline-type racing slides. Another popular park feature is the beautifully maintained barefoot trail.

If you plan a longer visit with your family, it’s good to know there’s a café in the park as well.

Nature lovers have another new place to explore – the Wellness Park in Vilkija, Kaunas District. This is a perfect spot for a family outing if you’re looking to slow down in nature, have a picnic, or simply admire the view of the seven impressive bends of the Nemunas River.

Next to the health care center, you’ll find not only a panoramic terrace but also walking trails and multifunctional domes. These domes host physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise classes, community events, and other wellness activities.

This location will particularly appeal to those who value peace and the beauty of nature.
