A mystical place in Tenerife: an exhibition of mysterious caves will surprise even those who have seen it all

What to do in Tenerife? Most people choose beaches, a visit to Teide, or trips to Loro Parque and Siam Park. However, the island also hides a place that does not fit typical travel routes at all. It is a space where today’s weather or the passing hours no longer matter. Instead, time seems to lose its meaning. From the very first step inside, you feel as if you have entered another reality rather than a tourist attraction.

A mystical place in Tenerife: an exhibition of mysterious caves will surprise even those who have seen it all. This unique place is set inside natural caves. However, these are not ordinary caves. Each space has its own theme, mood, and story. Stone, light, shadows, and artist-created objects blend into one continuous experience. As a result, it feels more like a dream than an exhibition. We had the honor of meeting the owners of El Pasaje Secreto. Moreover, it was a real pleasure to share this place with you.

Caves that speak through the senses

El Pasaje Secreto offers no standard information boards or fixed routes. Instead, as you move from one space to another, you become part of the journey yourself. In some areas, the stone walls seem alive. In others, the lighting creates the feeling of a space station or an otherworldly environment. Statues, shapes, and installations often look as if they came from another planet or an ancient civilization.

This is a place that works not on the mind, but on the senses. Here, you want to speak more quietly, move more slowly, and observe. And what about the impressive pools in the rocks…

Art born from the rock

What makes El Pasaje Secreto especially unique is the fact that the exhibition was not built. Instead, it was created directly in the rock. At the same time, the rooms designed by the artist-owners complement the natural cave spaces perfectly.

The themed areas shift from dark and meditative to brighter and almost magical. In this way, the space feels like a labyrinth. Moreover, the creative layout pulls you in and holds your attention.

Why does El Pasaje Secreto surprise so many visitors?

Even well-traveled visitors find this place striking because it feels unlike anything else in Tenerife. It is not a museum, not a gallery, and not entertainment in the traditional sense. Rather, it is an experience that is hard to describe but easy to feel.

There is no mass tourism, noise, or rush here. On the contrary, this place encourages you to slow down. Perhaps that is why, after leaving, many people want to stay quiet for a while. They reflect on what they saw and delay returning to everyday life.

After our visit, we talked with our children for a long time about how special this place felt. And now, we are already looking forward to coming back.

Visiting and guided tours

El Pasaje Secreto suits those who seek more than just another attraction. It appeals to people looking for emotion and depth. In addition, it attracts art lovers who enjoy unusual spaces. It also suits travelers who want to see a different side of Tenerife, one that feels mysterious, calm, and slightly cosmic.

You can visit this secret cave exhibition only with an organized guided tour. Independent visits are not possible. As a result, the experience feels even stronger. Guides lead visitors through the spaces step by step while revealing the history, symbolism, and artistic ideas behind them. Every movement and every turn follow a careful plan.

Tours take place only on weekends and only at scheduled times. Usually, groups remain small to maintain a quiet and intimate atmosphere. The visit lasts about 90 minutes, depending on the group size and pace. During this time, visitors explore different themed cave rooms. Importantly, the tour allows time not only for explanations but also for personal experience.

You must reserve a place on the tour in advance, as the number of spots is limited.

The hosts speak Spanish, English, Russian, and French.

It is recommended to arrive a little earlier. The road leads through small towns and partly through mountain areas. Therefore, plan your time carefully.

There is also a parking area nearby.

We have visited many unique places. However, this one left the strongest impression of all.
