Impressive and undiscovered Lithuania: trip from Mingė to Nida on the boat Svajonė

Impressive and undiscovered Lithuania: a trip from Mingė to Nida on the boat Svajonė is a unique experience offered by the rural tourism guesthouse Mingės egzotika.

Imagine a village where the streets are rivers and boats replace cars. Mornings start with birdsong and the gentle sound of water, and in the evening, the sky is painted in the blue and pink reflections of the Curonian Lagoon. This is Mingė, the “Lithuanian Venice.”

Mingė village awaits those who crave both natural beauty and authentic experiences. One such highlight is a day trip on the boat Svajonė to Nida, crossing the Nemunas Delta and the Curonian Lagoon.

Trip from Mingė to Nida on the boat Svajonė

Svajonė is one of the largest passenger boats in Lithuania, accommodating up to 160 passengers and even 80 bicycles. On board, you’ll find a bar, air conditioning, covered and open decks, and restrooms – everything you need for a comfortable journey.

The route Mingė village–Uostadvaris–Nida–Uostadvaris–Mingė village runs daily. First, the journey starts at 9:00 am from Mingė village. Then, you’ll sail the Minija River to Uostadvaris, where more passengers board at 9:30. After that, the boat continues to Nida across the Curonian Lagoon. Along the way, the views are simply stunning – you’ll see the unique atmosphere of the Curonian Lagoon, with Ventės Ragas in the distance. At 11:00 am, you arrive in Nida and have free time until 5:30 pm. Finally, the boat leaves Nida, returning to Uostadvaris and Mingė village.

Since the boat departs at 9:00 am, we highly recommend ordering breakfast on board and enjoying a delicious, romantic meal while watching the scenery of the Curonian Lagoon. The breakfast is truly tasty.

This journey is not only a wonderful opportunity to spend the day in Nida, but also to see some of the most spectacular landscapes in Lithuania.

Why a boat trip from Mingė to Nida is perfect for families

This trip on the boat Svajonė is not only a fun excursion for families, but it also offers many advantages:

  1. Free all-day parking in Mingė village, so you avoid expensive parking fees in Nida.
  2. You can choose to travel to Nida for a day and return the same day, or stay overnight – no need to pay high parking or entrance fees in Nida or the Curonian Spit.
  3. No entry or ecological fees to Nida, whether you stay overnight or not.
  4. You can travel with pets, and bring bicycles or scooters.
  5. From the boat, you’ll see a side of Lithuania you’d never experience from land.

Practical information

Arrive earlier and take a stroll around the beautiful Mingė village. Life here is unique – people have breakfast on their boats, prepare for trips, and fishermen bring in their catch. In my opinion, this is truly one of the most beautiful and unique places in Lithuania – you won’t find anything else like it in the country.

Tickets for the boat can be purchased on-site or online in advance. Therefore, we recommend buying tickets early, as this trip is very popular and often sells out. Round-trip tickets for adults are 30 euros. Meanwhile, for children aged 4–14 and seniors on weekdays, tickets are 20 euros round-trip.

Additionally, be sure to order breakfast – the food is delicious, and it’s a real pleasure to enjoy the stunning Lithuanian nature while having a romantic meal.

For the best experience, we suggest staying overnight at Mingės egzotika guesthouse so you can set off on the Svajonė boat in the morning.

Accommodation at Mingės egzotika homestead

Homestead Mingės egzotika is located on the left bank of the Minija River – it’s a peaceful, comfortable, and family-friendly retreat in nature. For a truly unique experience, come to Mingė village and stay overnight. The homestead is run by the wonderful Stasys, who gave us a tour and shared many stories. He was one of the first locals to start offering hospitality in this special place. Stasys also has an adorable dog, who quickly became friends with our kids.

The homestead has cozy rooms with all amenities, and you can host celebrations, seminars, or other gatherings here. There is a café where you can have lunch or coffee with a view of the river. Kids will enjoy the playground, and active guests can use the basketball and volleyball courts. After a day outdoors, you can relax in the small SPA zone – there’s a sauna and a hot tub.

We were so glad we arrived the night before. In the evening, we sat by the river, watched boats float by, and saw the fishermen return with their catch. It was truly special.

We enjoyed it so much that we already plan to return, maybe even this summer or fall.

What to do and see in Nida with kids

When you arrive in Nida, make the most of your day. Walk along the Curonian Lagoon promenade. A bit further on, you’ll find several playgrounds, and you can stop for ice cream in a café. At the end of the promenade, there’s a new path and steps leading to Parnidis Dune. Climb to the top, check out the sundial and the stunning dunes, then descend to Nida’s campsite and head to the seaside.

There, you can swim, have lunch in a café, or organize a picnic. Later, follow the pedestrian path to the third entrance to Nida and, following the signs, head to the lighthouse. After visiting the lighthouse, return to the Curonian Lagoon. Near the Kerbedis monument, visit another playground, have some ice cream, and stroll along the lagoon back to the boat.

Not long ago, we also took a trip on the boat Forelle from Klaipėda to Juodkrantė and the Dead Dunes. We highly recommend trying this excursion from the Port of Klaipėda.
