New space in Vilnius for families: Little Lithuania Square. If you are looking for a calmer yet interesting place for walks – Little Lithuania Square can become a really pleasant discovery. And we guarantee, you will want to come back here just like we did.

The most interesting part is that when planning the square, the idea was to continue commemorating Little Lithuania in Pilaitė. Therefore, one of the highlights of the square is a small, partly landscaped sand dune that creates a special sandy atmosphere. The selected plants are also typical of the Little Lithuania landscape. And this is probably the most unique sandbox in Lithuania, both in its shape and size. In addition, it is a great opportunity to talk with older children about Lithuanian regions and cultural heritage.

The children’s playground is small, but it has a rubber surface. Although there are no usual swings or climbing frames, the climbing structure and games on the pavement definitely spark children’s curiosity. Both two-year-old Paulė and seven-year-old Motiejus enjoyed it.

The square itself and the lawn are surrounded by a walking path, so you can enjoy a nice walk. Nearby there are basketball and football courts. There are also many benches and picnic tables.

We highly recommend visiting, because we really liked it.

If you visit Little Lithuania Square, walk about 500 meters to Vilnius St. Joseph Church. There you will find a real joy for children – the Pilaitė bike track. If your children ride a bike or a scooter, make sure to stop by. Children will definitely enjoy it. Nearby there is also a small playground, but unfortunately it is quite neglected.

Also, if you did not know, the Tauro Hill park in the city center has been beautifully renewed. At the end of 2024, workers completed the renovation of Tauro Hill. During these works, they installed two children’s playgrounds in the park. They combine modern and natural design and match the park’s landscape. In addition, an outdoor gym area was installed on the upper terrace of the hill, and more spaces were created in the park, which you can reach by paths without stairs from Pamėnkalnio, Tauro, V. Kudirkos, and V. Mykolaičio-Putino streets.

Also, a bit further from Vilnius city center, in Grigiškės, a great new leisure space and playground has recently opened.

It is very nice to see that Vilnius is changing and becoming a modern European city with many activities and entertainment for families. The city becomes more beautiful every year, and more new spaces appear. Most importantly, not only in the city center, but also in more distant districts of the city.
