Every last Sunday of the month, national and state museums across Lithuania, from major cities to smaller regions, open their doors for free visits. This is a great chance to plan a meaningful weekend, introduce children to history, or discover museums you may not have visited yet. To make planning easier, we have prepared a list of museums you can visit for free in 2026.

Free museums on the last Sunday of the month 2026. Which museums open their doors for free?

The initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture in 2019 continues for the seventh year. It allows visitors to explore permanent exhibitions at national and state museums free of charge on the last Sunday of each month. In 2026, free museum visits on the last Sunday of the month will take place in museums managed by the Ministry of Culture. Fortunately, other museums also join this initiative. In addition, various special offers are available at some private museums. A great example is the Auto Museum in Vilnius. Although entry remains paid even on the last Sunday of the month, visitors can join a free guided tour.

We are sharing all museums where you can enjoy a free visit with your entire family. Museum visits are a great choice throughout the year, especially during colder seasons or bad weather. Most museums operate indoors, although many also feature outdoor exhibitions. Therefore, weather is never an obstacle for meaningful leisure activities.

Do not forget that Lithuania also has museums that are always free.
