Latvia, like Poland, is a popular travel destination for Lithuanian families, including our own. And why not? The distance from the capital to Latvia is almost the same as driving to the Lithuanian seaside. So, if you want to reach another country quickly, neighboring Latvia is a great choice. Moreover, if you want more than just a change of scenery and would like fun experiences with children, water parks and swimming pools in Latvia should definitely be on your travel list.

So which water parks and swimming pools in Latvia are truly worth your attention when traveling with children and planning a relaxing, fun-filled weekend? The list is not long. However, these places alone are enough to inspire a memorable trip to a neighboring country. And if you still have energy left after water fun, our guide “What to See with Children in Latvia?” will offer more ideas for your journey.
Water parks and swimming pools in Latvia
Livu water park in Jūrmala
If you travel to Latvia specifically for water activities, this place can easily be number one on your list. It is one of the largest water parks in the Baltic states and operates all year round. During summer, an outdoor area with pools and a riverside terrace also opens.
The park offers so many slides that choosing where to start can feel difficult. Some slides suit older children and adventurous adults. They are fast, winding, and even include a loop. Younger children can enjoy separate areas with gentle currents, small slides, and warm water.
Līvu water park also includes a SPA area with saunas, a salt room, and whirlpools. After active water fun, parents usually appreciate a few quiet moments to relax. This works best if children stay with another adult or are already older.
Plan at least half a day here, or ideally a full day. Otherwise, you simply will not manage to try everything. Tickets are not cheap, but many parents agree the experience is worth the price. The ticket includes lockers and showers. You will also find food options on site and convenient parking.

Ventspils water park
Water fun in Ventspils does not depend on the season. This park operates all year, so you can plan a fun family weekend even in winter.
Inside, the air temperature stays around 28 °C. The children’s pool and whirlpools reach about 36 °C, while the wave pool stays at around 26 °C. A separate children’s area includes colorful figures such as a snake, a bird, and a mushroom. Two slides start from a 6-meter height and stretch 53 and 56 meters, making them suitable for older children. The park also features a mountain river, a wave pool, massage jets, a waterfall, a water cascade, and underwater currents.
The SPA zone includes whirlpools, massage showers, a steam room, Turkish and aroma saunas. After warming up, visitors can cool down in a cold-water pool, use an ice bucket, or try artificial ice flakes located in the same area.
Visits start from two hours, but longer stays are also available. The park is compact, which makes it easy to move around with children. At the same time, activities are more than enough for the whole family.
Outdoor pools at the Olympic center “Rezekne”
In Rēzekne, summer water fun takes place outdoors. Here you will find the only outdoor pool complex of this kind in the Baltic states. This is not a classic water park full of attractions. Instead, it suits families looking for calm pool time. You might think outdoor pools feel uncomfortable on cooler summer days. However, the water here is heated, so even on cloudy days you can enjoy swimming with children.
The complex includes three pools. There is a 25-meter swimming pool, a smaller children’s pool with a gentle entrance, warmer water, and a small slide, plus two whirlpools. Everything stays outdoors, but the infrastructure ensures comfort and safety for families. A sauna operates nearby, which is useful if you want to warm up for a short break.
The area is small but cozy and well maintained. Sun loungers, changing cabins, and a nearby café add convenience. Just remember to bring towels and flip-flops.
Olympic Sports Center in Riga
The Olympic sports center in Riga is not only for professional swimmers. It also works well for families, as water activities take place indoors all year round.
The main 50-meter pool allows serious swimming or relaxed time in the water with children. If you prefer something warmer and calmer, two smaller pools operate nearby. These pools serve children’s lessons and younger visitors. One of them features a play zone with water streams called “Rotaļupe.” The water depth reaches only about one meter, which works well even for very young children.
The complex also includes a SPA area with saunas: steam, Finnish sauna, bio sauna, and even a sensory sauna. After heat sessions, you can cool down under a tropical shower or on an ice table. This experience truly stands out.
Another advantage is swimming classes available from infancy. This allows families to combine fun with useful skills. The center also has a café, which helps if you spend a longer time with children, and comfortable changing areas.
Semarah Lielupe SPA & Conferences pools
Those who follow us for a long time know that we enjoy staying at good SPA hotels. We had heard many positive reviews about this hotel, so we chose it for our stay in Jūrmala without hesitation.
Semarah Lielupe hotel sits just a few hundred meters from the sea. You can reach the beach in only a few minutes. However, if the sea feels too cold or filled with seaweed, the hotel’s outdoor pool becomes a real rescue. It operates during the season and offers sun loungers and a pool bar. The outdoor pool stays open from 8:00 in the morning until 22:00 in the evening, so evening swims work perfectly.
The hotel also offers an indoor pool. Several saunas, a children’s pool, and a whirlpool create a comfortable setup. The indoor pool follows the same long opening hours as the outdoor pool. We enjoyed swimming before breakfast, as it opens at 8:00. Warm water and a warm SPA area make a big difference when visiting with children.

AB park water activities
AB park is not only the largest amusement park in the Baltic states. It also offers a refreshing escape on hot summer days. Water activities are so abundant that visiting without swimwear and towels makes no sense. The park offers many water attractions for children of all ages and adults. The whole family can enjoy pedal boat rides, while younger children play in the water playground. For Paula, this was one of the most enjoyable activities.
A children’s water zone operates near the rides, with slides and water games. A bit further away, families find a true highlight: ERGO water world. This giant water trampoline park sits on a pond and features climbing elements, slides, and obstacles. Most importantly, time here is unlimited. A truly unique attraction includes a trampoline designed even for the youngest visitors, where parents can jump together with their toddlers. Our whole family enjoyed this area, including our 2.5-year-old Paula.
Lifeguards supervise the area, everyone wears life jackets, and smaller sizes are available for young children. The area includes benches, shaded zones, and changing cabins. Everything feels well planned and comfortable.
The park is so large that even on our third visit we discovered new attractions only this year. You can read more about our full experience in the park in a dedicated article.
