From a little ball of wool to a toy: an unforgettable experience at the Pakruojis Manor wool manufactory

Traveling through manors and museums, we usually expect to see beautiful exhibits or hear interesting stories, but we rarely expect to create something ourselves. And while visiting Pakruojis Manor, we took part in several activities and created not only candles, but also wool toys with our own hands.

From a little ball of wool to a toy: Pakruojis Manor wool manufactory educational program was an unforgettable experience.

A meeting with the charismatic felter

The moment you enter the manufactory, you are greeted by warmth – not only from the wool, but also from the people. Here rules the charismatic wool felter and creator, Janina Vansauskienė. She immediately enchants with her stories. About the properties of wool, its benefits, its history. And also about the uses of wool both in everyday life and in creativity. From the first moments, you understand – this will not be an ordinary activity, but a real journey into the world of crafts.

Wool felting – creativity that engages everyone

Felter Janina gives each person a ball of wool and teaches the first steps. Soon everyone – both children and adults – dives into the process. Patience, finger work, and suddenly a small miracle begins to form in your hands.

Our children could not believe that they would make wool toys with their own hands. And what surprised us even more was that even the husband, who usually keeps his distance from handicrafts, happily joined in. We laughed that we would have to buy a wool kit and tools for the home.

Wool that warms not only the body

Wool products turned out to be not only beautiful or cute. They also have useful properties! Wool keep you warm in winter but let the skin breathe in the hot summer. Also calms and protect your health. It turns out that even the small wool balls we brought home can be used for healing purposes.

And most importantly – the process of making calms and brings people together, helping you to be here and now.

A corner of peace next to the manor

The Pakruojis Manor wool manufactory is located a bit away from the main bustle – on the way to the hotel “Malūninko namas” and the tavern “Traktieriaus”. It is a real discovery, because here you can not only learn a craft, but also buy wool products, warm scarves, hats, or souvenirs.

An experience worth trying for everyone

This experience left a special impression. The children still do not let go of their toys, and we talked for a long time that such experiences should be mandatory for everyone – because there were no phones or screens here. Only wool, patience, and the joy of creation. And most importantly, thanks to Janina’s patience and help, even such a process that seems complicated results in an outcome that crowns all expectations. Everyone succeeded!

The Pakruojis Manor wool manufactory is a place where a traditional craft becomes alive. Wool not only warms but also inspires. Here the joy of childhood returns, when something personal and unique is born from nothing. If you visit the manor, take the time to stop by. Wool felting may become one of the most beautiful memories of your trip.
