Living in Lithuania, we enjoy a true privilege – all four seasons. Sometimes they arrive early, sometimes slightly later. Nevertheless, every year we admire colorful autumn leaves, awakening spring nature, and sunny green summers. This time, however, we finally welcomed what many of us had missed – a real snowy winter.

Vilnius reveals its impressive panorama in winter, and its most beautiful views are seen from above. The old rooftops of Vilnius are covered in snow, while church towers, parks, and winding rivers are clearly visible. All of this unfolds before your eyes if you choose the right location, and the city offers plenty of such places.

Gediminas’ castle tower

One of the most famous and visited landmarks in Vilnius is Gediminas’ castle tower. Without a doubt, it never goes unnoticed. The tower remains the only surviving structure of the Upper Castle and stands as an important symbol of Lithuania. It rises on Pilies Hill, where a beautiful panorama of Vilnius Old Town opens up.

Inside the tower, visitors will also find a museum. There, exhibitions present historical findings and stories about Vilnius. To enter the tower, visitors need a ticket.

Taurakalnis viewpoint

This location remains a favorite spot for our family throughout the year. During winter, it becomes one of the best places in the city center for seasonal fun. The hill is perfect for sledding, and children especially love it. We even included it in our list of the best sleeding hills in Vilnius.

When spring arrives and the weather becomes warmer, the area transforms again. In summer, you can enjoy a pleasant picnic on the grass or even inside your car. Meanwhile, the view from the hill stays simply wonderful. In addition, there are walking paths nearby that are enjoyable for walks with children. Three Crosses hill viewpoint

To reach this viewpoint, you will need to climb quite a few steps. You can access the hill from several directions. However, the view rewards every effort.

At the top, a stunning panorama of Vilnius opens up. You will clearly see the Old Town, Gediminas’ castle tower, and the Vilnelė valley. Although the scenery changes across seasons, winter offers a particularly magical sight. Snow gently covers the entire city, and the landscape looks truly impressive.

With smaller children, the climb may feel challenging. Still, it remains absolutely manageable.

Pūčkoriai outcrop (the highest in Lithuania)

This natural site is the highest exposure in Lithuania, reaching approximately 65 meters. The location looks impressive both from above and below.

If you plan to visit the top of the exposure, walking with a stroller may be more difficult. Some paths are steep. Meanwhile, at the bottom, the Pūčkoriai cognitive trail stretches along the Vilnia River. The trail is comfortable, family-friendly, and suitable for strollers.

From there, visitors enjoy beautiful views of the exposure and the surrounding nature. In addition, Belmontas lies nearby, so you will find plenty of walking opportunities.

Lazdynai cliff or Plikakalnis outcrop (second highest in Lithuania)

One of the most beautiful panoramic spots in Lazdynai attracts visitors from many districts. From the cliff, you will see Vingis Park, the Neris River, and wide open spaces.

Reaching the location becomes an enjoyable walk itself. Families can stroll through the nearby forest, which children usually find exciting. Additionally, several walking trails run close by, including Miško pakraščio takas and Plikakalnio takas.

Pavilniai regional park viewpoint

Although not widely known, this place feels cozy and well-maintained. Visitors will find walking paths, benches, shelters, and even a grill area. The site also includes a small play space for children and a basketball court.

Despite its compact size, the viewpoint offers a beautiful Vilnius panorama. Furthermore, families with children can comfortably explore the area, as the paths remain stroller-friendly.

Rokantiškės hillfort viewpoint

This place feels peaceful and remarkably scenic. From here, a wide panorama opens toward the surroundings of Naujoji Vilnia.

For many families, this viewpoint becomes especially memorable. It is one of the most enjoyable places in Vilnius for watching trains. Children, in particular, find this experience fascinating. Nearby, visitors can also explore the Strielčiukai cognitive trail.

The Subačius viewpoint is one of those places that locals know well. Meanwhile, tourists often discover it unexpectedly.

Located near Subačiaus Street, the site sits slightly away from the busy Old Town streets. From the viewpoint, visitors enjoy a beautiful panorama of Vilnius Old Town. Church towers, historic rooftops, and the Užupis district stand out clearly.

Although many locals remain unaware of this spot, it truly deserves attention. The viewpoint offers a broad panorama, where you will see the Vilnius TV Tower and residential districts.

Balsys viewpoint ranks among the most beautiful natural panoramas in Vilnius. Surrounded by forest and located near the Green Lakes, the place feels especially atmospheric.

Due to nearby water bodies, temperatures here often feel lower. Therefore, warmer clothing is highly recommended. While summer presents a completely different scene, winter reveals a stunning landscape of snow-covered treetops. When frost decorates the branches, the view looks truly magical.
