Have you heard about Therme Erding? It is the largest spa complex in Europe and in the world. It is also the largest water park in Germany.
One of the founders of “Travel 4 kids”, Agnė, together with her family and children’s grandparents, recently returned from a trip around the Bavaria region in Germany. Agnė and her family have already traveled to Bavaria three times, and this time they also visited Therme Erding. Agnė shares her impressions and recommendations on whether the largest spa complex in Europe is really worth visiting.

Bavaria region and the town of Erding
When we travel, we always try to include water parks in our route. Therme Erding – the largest spa complex in Europe – had long been a place we wanted to visit.

This year was already the third time we traveled in the Bavaria region. This region of Germany is very interesting and wonderfully beautiful. In addition, there are many places to visit and many fun activities for children. Munich is a very beautiful city and the capital of Bavaria. Therme Erding, the largest spa complex in Europe, is located very close to Munich, in the town of Erding.
The town of Erding is known not only because the largest spa complex in Europe is located here. The largest family-owned wheat beer brewery in the world, Erdinger, is also located here. Even if you are not beer lovers, you have probably heard about this wheat beer. Moreover, you can book a nice tour of the factory and enjoy a Bavarian food tasting.
Therme Erding – the largest spa complex in Europe
It is not without reason that Therme Erding is the largest spa complex in Europe and the largest water park in Germany, because it is truly enormous. The park area is 140,000 sq. m. We spent 4 hours in the park. We knew it would not be enough, but we did not have more time. Next time, we will definitely spend the whole day. When buying a ticket, you choose whether you want access to the main area or to the main area and VitalOase (a part of the park with saunas and additional thermal pools). By the way, the VitalOase area is for visitors aged 16 and older. We really liked that if you decide to extend your time, the price stays the same. An additional half hour costs only 2 euros.

Although we are big fans of Suntago, we liked Therme Erding more for several reasons. First, the main area in Therme Erding is very spacious, so there is less crowding than in Suntago. In addition, the main area includes many thermal pools, jacuzzis, and smaller pools. Also, during summer and good weather, the glass dome that covers the spa complex opens, and all pools become open-air.

There is also a very large outdoor area with slides for both children and adults, as well as pool bars. There is a separate pool with a bar and a stage, where concerts and shows take place.
We also really liked that entertainment events, pool exercises, and activities for children take place here regularly.

Therme Erding – an impressive water park
Since 2007, “Therme Erding” also operates the “Galaxy” slide paradise, where you can try special water attractions on 28 incredible slides. The slides are divided into different levels: family, action, and extreme. Only at the most extreme slides staff members are present, and to use them, you need to scan your wristband.
Five slides belong to the extreme category, including “Kamikaze” – a 34-meter-long slide with a 60-degree slope. It was even scary to watch people going down, because it looked truly extreme. On the X-Treme Faser slide, you can reach speeds of up to 72 km/h.
At other attractions, there are no staff members, so if a child is brave and lacks just a few centimeters to meet the height requirement, they will still be able to slide. In good weather, many outdoor water slides also operate.
Hotel Victory – an impressive hotel inside the water park
Hotel Victory is located in the same building as the water park. In fact, through the hotel lobby you can enter the water park directly. The hotel windows open directly to the wave pool area. The hotel has a unique design and looks like a ship. When you stay at the hotel, access to the water park is free. However, the hotel price is quite high. During the summer season, when we visited, one night for two people cost 480 euros. During the off-season, a room can cost around 200 euros. We usually find the best prices through our partners’ system.
Our recommendations
We really liked Therme Erding – its spaciousness, the large number of activities included in the ticket price, the food options, and the water slides. If we visited again, we would choose a full-day visit, because there are truly many activities. We would also recommend visiting the Erdinger brewery.
