Skiing in Poland near Lithuania with children or the whole family is an excellent choice for anyone looking for affordable and fun winter activities. Wosir Szelment is a ski and winter sports resort located just 20 kilometers from the Lithuanian–Polish border. If you enjoy skiing, if children want to learn how to ski, or if you simply want to spend quality time together, then skiing in Poland near Lithuania is a very good option.

Skiing in Poland near the Lithuanian border
First of all, skiing in Poland near the Lithuania border at the Wosir Szelment ski center suits those who do not want to travel far but still look for a winter sports resort in Poland. Poland offers a wide choice of winter sports centers and ski slopes. Therefore, skiing in Poland remains a popular option. We have also prepared a detailed guide about the best ski resorts across the country.

Wosir Szelment is a modern winter sports center in Poland. It is located 15 km north of Suwałki and only 20 km from the Lithuanian–Polish border. The ski resort stands on Jesionowa Hill. Nearby, you will find Lake Szelment Wielki. During winter, when the lake freezes, an ice skating rink operates there. The Wosir Szelment ski center offers eight slopes ranging from 270 to 500 meters in length. In addition, the resort has a snow park. An artificial snow system ensures proper snow coverage. However, depending on weather conditions and visitor numbers, not all slopes operate at the same time. Therefore, before traveling, always check the latest information.

Useful Information
Before your visit, make sure to check opening times, as slope schedules vary depending on the season. During holidays and school vacations, the slopes usually open earlier and operate longer. Moreover, the slopes are illuminated in the evening.

There are also two ski schools near the slopes. Professional instructors teach skiing and snowboarding. However, instructors speak Polish or English only. In addition, equipment rental is available on site.

A big advantage is that all information is provided in Lithuanian.

In fact, many Lithuanians visit this ski resort because prices are truly affordable and, in our opinion, lower than in Lithuania. Moreover, the infrastructure is very well organized. We especially liked that beginner children can use a conveyor lift instead of a drag lift, which can be difficult for young learners. Near the slopes, you will also find a hotel, a café, and a large parking area.
Most importantly, next to the ski slopes there is a special hill designed for tubing. Tubes can be rented on site. While Motiejus was skiing, Paule and I enjoyed tubing on the hill. Some children did not rent tubes and instead used their own sleds or other winter equipment.
Attractions in Suwalki
You can easily combine skiing at Wosir Szelment with other activities in Suwalki.
Top attraction: Suwalki Water Park
One of the most enjoyable attractions in Suwalki is the Suwalki water park. It is especially suitable for families with younger children. Children can use all slides, as there are no height restrictions. Additionally, water landings are shallow and well adapted for kids. For six-year-old Motiejus, this park was ideal. Adults can relax in saunas and jacuzzis. Prices are very affordable. Two hours for adults cost 25 PLN, which is about 5.5 euros. Even two-year-old Paule enjoyed the park a lot.
Other activities for children
Our trips to Suwałki never go without a visit to the Suwałki Plaza shopping center. Here you will find an impressive ice skating rink spread across three floors of the mall. The rink is free and attracts many children.

In the same shopping center, there is also a small but fun play area called Kinderplaneta. Two hours of play cost between 5 and 7 euros, depending on the day of the week. This place works perfectly when children play and parents shop. When the weather is nice, walking around the city is also enjoyable. In the central city square, interactive fountains operate during warmer seasons.
In addition, next to the Suwałki water park, there are excellent free playgrounds. They are modern and very interesting. We always stop there, as Motiejus really enjoys it.

Where to eat and stay in Suwalki after skiing
We highly recommend trying Kuchnia Tatarska u Alika. It offers a mix of Tatar, Slavic, and Eastern cuisine. The setting is beautiful, and the food tastes great. Portions are large. The restaurant is located outside the city center. During summer, a terrace operates, and there is a playground for children.
Fast food options are widely available in Suwałki Plaza. Therefore, if you are in a hurry, you will easily find a place to eat.
In the city center, Browar Północny is another great option. A parking area is located nearby. The food tastes excellent, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. They brew beer on site. Most importantly for families, they provide a huge box of toys for children upon request. We really enjoy this place.
If you are looking for homemade food, traditional Polish dishes, and a rustic atmosphere, Karczma Polska is a great choice.
There is also a very good restaurant in Hotel Loft. Prices are not low, but the food is excellent. Even when we do not stay at the hotel, we often stop there to eat.
We really like Hotel Loft 1989 in Suwalki. It offers spacious rooms, a cozy small spa, a large play area for children, and excellent breakfasts.

When traveling with a larger group, we choose Apartament Park nad Hańczą. The apartments are stylishly designed and can accommodate up to eight people.

Suwalki has two large shopping centers: Suwalki Plaza and Multishop Suwalki.
At Multishop Suwalki, you will find HalfPrice and affordable clothing stores such as Kik, Tedi, Pepco, House, and Cropp. In addition, there are two large electronics stores. Nearby, you will also find our favorite grocery store, Biedronka, and a very large home improvement store, OBI.
Suwalki Plaza is a large shopping center with many cafés, a children’s play area, and the popular ice skating rink. Shops include H&M, Pandora, Medicine, and Reserved. There is also an excellent children’s store, SMYK. We highly recommend visiting it, especially during sales, as you can find great products at very good prices.
While in Poland, we always visit a pharmacy. Prices differ significantly from Lithuania, and some medications cost even half as much. Polish pharmacies also accept prescriptions issued in Lithuania, but you must have them in paper form. Our favorite pharmacy is Apteka Gemini, as prices there are usually the best.
