Summer festival – the beauty of blossoms and the charm of cinema stars
Last summer, Pakruojis Manor was decorated with flowers, and the “Festival of Flowers and Cinema Stars” invites visitors to immerse themselves in a colorful and romantic atmosphere. Paths, flower beds, and courtyards tell their own stories, while themed decorations reflect famous movies.
Here, you can not only admire the beauty but also experience how the manor comes to life. There is music and live performances, and you can even take part yourself! In addition, small interactive movie scenes with a touch of humor run throughout the day. Just do not forget to check the program and plan your time.
Educational experiences – a journey to the past and introduction with manor crafts
Both children and adults can enjoy unique experiences that introduce old crafts and manor life.
Vintage retro photoshoot – an unforgettable souvenir from Pakruojis Manor
There is a Photo Atelier in the manor, where you can dress in authentic clothing and take photos just like people did more than a century ago. The charismatic retro photographer Kęstutis Kumža not only shares stories about the history of photography, but also creates an original souvenir from Pakruojis Manor.
A vintage photoshoot is a unique opportunity to take an authentic photo that will remain unchanged for more than 50 years and remind you of your visit to Pakruojis Manor. You can take photos wearing noble-style accessories such as a hat, a universal-size dress, or a tailcoat, or simply wear your own clothes.
The photography process uses an old camera and follows the style of the late 19th century. While posing, you need to stay still for 3 to 4 seconds so the image appears clearly on the photo paper.
In the photo laboratory, you can watch the magical process of photo development live. This process surprises not only children but also adults who have seen a lot! So make sure to visit – you will find the Photo Atelier on the lower floor of the main manor building.
The manor beekeeper and candle making
The life of bees is very interesting – thanks to them, not only golden honey is created, but also fragrant wax and other products. The manor beekeeper Irena Kompauskienė will explain how honey and various bee products reach our table, and you will also learn from the hardworking beekeeper how candles used to be made from wax in the past, so you will try this craft yourself.
The beekeeper Irena was waiting for us on the first evening and welcomed us into a workshop filled with the scent of wax, and although it was a warm evening and the wax hardened more slowly, a sense of calm and kindness came from the beekeeper, so even the wax seemed to “calm down” and we left feeling as if after meditation. The candle-making process was slow, but it was also interesting, as we learned many fascinating facts about bees, and it was also sweet, because we got to taste honey treats. By the way, the beekeeper owns a family apiary and also hosts educational activities in her own bzzz farm.
It was so interesting, calm, and enjoyable for us that we truly recommend it without hesitation! Beekeeper Irena communicates very well with children, so if we ever want a wax and candle-making activity again, we will definitely return to the bzzz farm. You can also meet Irena, take part in her educational activities, and buy a fragrant candle or delicious honey and its products at Pakruojis Manor, in the farm area.
The manor wool manufactory and handmade wool toys
In the manor wool manufactory, where the charismatic wool artist Janina Vansauskienė works, another world opens up. As soon as you enter, you will see a variety of wool creations, from smiling figures to floral shawls, beautiful hats, and other garments. Janina warmly welcomes guests into her workshop. She explains the benefits of wool and teaches felting. It takes patience and love for the craft, and you can truly feel it.
Our children could not believe they left with toys they made themselves. Meanwhile, I could not believe that my husband happily joined the activity and enjoyed it! The wool warmed and calmed us on a rainy day. It felt so nice to experience the full process and see what can be created from wool. In addition, wool has many benefits – we left with natural wool pieces that can even be used for healing purposes, and we carried Janina’s warmth in our hearts. The children could not let go of their handmade toys. Later, we talked for a long time about how such activities should be essential for all children. No phones or screens were needed at all.
We truly recommend taking a walk towards the Blacksmith’s house and the wool manufactory. It is located a bit further from the main area, on the way to the Miller’s house and the tavern “Traktierius”. There, you can also buy products and souvenirs, meet the artisans, and learn about wool properties. Interestingly, wool products are suitable not only for winter but also for hot summer days.
Other educational activities
We did not manage to try all the educational activities at Pakruojis Manor, as there are even more available. However, we are already looking forward to themed activities that take place during special events such as Halloween and Christmas. After this experience, we are sure they are unique and memorable.
Entertainment for the whole family – from animals to theatre
In addition to the festival and educational activities, Pakruojis Manor offers many other experiences for families:
- Walks through the park and flower gardens.
- Meetings with manor animals such as birds, horses, sheep, and the famous camel Bučkis. Also, visit Zootropolis, where friendly rabbits interact with guests.
- The carriage museum and other exhibition buildings.
- Open-air performances and various shows.
- Creative workshops for children.
- A noble games area with a Flower Castle and an old carousel with traditional fair organs.
Everything at Pakruojis Manor is planned so that there is enough to do for a full day, and if you stay overnight, even for a few more. We have already written about what else you can do with children at Pakruojis Manor.
A true noble stay – staying at the manor
We chose to stay within the manor complex. This choice offers not only convenience but also a special feeling. In the evening, when visitors leave, the manor becomes peaceful. You can enjoy the silence and walk around the territory.
If you choose to have dinner at the manor, the staff and maids will take care of your festive meal. In the morning, we enjoyed one of the tastiest breakfasts we have had recently. Also, when entering and leaving the main building, greet the special hostess of the manor.
Guests can also choose to stay at the “Miller’s House” hotel. In addition, they can enjoy meals at the nearby tavern “Traktierius.”
For those traveling through Lithuania by camper, Pakruojis Manor offers a campsite. It is located near the Miller’s House hotel, between water and windmills, surrounded by nature. For convenience, electricity is available, and there is a place to empty wastewater tanks.
