An incredible autumn attraction in Lithuania opens its doors to visitors on August 15. Ovos Park in Kaunas District begins a new season and invites everyone to step into a magical autumn fairy tale. Although the surrounding forest is still green and summery, pumpkins, straw decorations, outdoor games, and plenty of activities for children are already waiting here.
One of Lithuania’s most beautiful autumn attractions – we can confidently call Ovos Park exactly that. Last year, this place truly surprised us, so this year we came back to see how the park had prepared for the new season. There are even more decorations and outdoor games, two new go-kart-style bikes, plenty of new miniature decorations, unique photo spots, and an incredible atmosphere. The place is truly unique and exceptionally beautiful, so we sincerely recommend adding it to your list of autumn attractions to visit.
One of Lithuania’s most beautiful autumn attractions – Ovos Park
Ovos Park, an incredibly beautiful autumn attraction in Lithuania, is located just a 30-minute drive from Kaunas, in a beautiful pine forest. This is exactly what makes the place so unique. The decorations and pumpkins are not simply arranged in one area. Instead, they are scattered among the trees, along the paths, and throughout different parts of the forest. It is no coincidence that Ovos Park is known as a family entertainment space in the forest.
In one area, you will find a huge straw bear; in another, a colorful farm corner with a red house, animal figures, hay, and autumn decorations. Further into the forest, you can discover a real village of tiny houses. Elves sit on tree stumps, while mushroom houses, miniature doors, and countless little characters create their own magical world.
This year, there are even more of these decorations throughout the park – elves, bugs, and little animals. They can also be found in a completely new area near the outdoor games.
The Pumpkin House – one of the most photogenic spots in Ovos Park
Of course, one of Ovos Park’s most striking areas remains the impressive Pumpkin House. Straw, dozens of pumpkins in different sizes and colors, plants, lanterns, and the surrounding forest greenery create a scene that is hard to mistake for anywhere else.
We especially enjoyed this area for taking photos. In mid-August, the contrast feels particularly unusual. It still looks like summer around you, with a lush green forest, while a whole sea of autumn decorations awaits right in front of you. Perhaps that is exactly why Ovos Park looks so beautiful in photos even before true autumn arrives.
Things to do at Ovos Park
Although Ovos Park first impresses us with its decorations and displays, it is not a place where children simply walk around and take photos. Instead, the park offers plenty of active outdoor activities. This year, there are even more of them.
Children can enjoy a large slide, various outdoor games, bowling, a maze, and a huge ball pit. This year, the park has also added two go-kart-style bikes that children can ride themselves. There are also two trampolines.
Another new addition is a large board where children can draw with chalk. Sometimes, these simple activities keep children entertained just as long as the biggest attractions.
The park also has plenty of places to sit and relax. Gazebos and tables are set up among the trees, so you can take your time and enjoy a longer stay at Ovos Park.
Not Halloween horror, but cozy autumn magic
We also like Ovos Park because its entire atmosphere is not built around scary Halloween themes. Yes, you will find carved pumpkin faces and other autumn elements here; however, the overall feeling is not frightening. Instead, it is a cozy, colorful, and child-friendly autumn fairy tale.
What makes Ovos Park especially enjoyable is that it opens its season as early as August, while summer is still in full swing in Lithuania and the weather often feels ideal for outdoor activities.
If you visited last season, you will not find a completely different park this year. The main idea behind Ovos Park and its larger areas remains the same. However, there are new outdoor games, two go-kart-style bikes, and plenty of new decorations.
We think this is exactly what makes the place so charming. You do not need to build a huge new attraction every year. Ovos Park is a wonderful place to relax and have fun, where you can simply enjoy being there.
If you have never visited before, this park is definitely worth adding to your list of autumn trips with children. And if you visited last year, it is still worth coming back simply for the atmosphere, which is not easy to find elsewhere in Lithuania.
Practical information
Ovos Park is located in Kaunas District, in the Zapyškis Eldership, in an exceptionally beautiful forest setting. You should have no trouble finding it, as there are signs from the main road.
You can buy tickets on site or conveniently purchase them online. Admission is free for children under three years old. Tickets cost €10 for older children and €12 for adults. The park is open from Friday to Sunday.
The park is not very large, but there are plenty of activities to enjoy. Our children liked it so much that it was difficult to convince them to leave and go home. We recommend allowing at least 2–3 hours for your visit. Since the park is located in a forest, wear comfortable footwear and dress warmly if the weather is cool.
There is also a café at Ovos Park serving hot food, plov, and children’s favorite French fries. You can also get hot and cold drinks. Alternatively, you can bring your own thermos or lunch boxes and easily have a picnic, as there are very cozy hay tables available.
