New and unique playground in Lithuania that surprised us: we tried the 23-meter slide

We thought this would be just another ordinary playground, but as soon as we arrived, we realized we were wrong. The new playground at the Lithuanian Zoo in Kaunas opened its doors on May 1st and has already attracted considerable interest from families. Not only does it feature one of the longest slides in Lithuania, but it is also a modern playground designed to combine fun with a natural environment. However, we soon discovered this place is interesting for more than just the record-breaking slide. Kids simply lose track of time here because the playground is so engaging. If your children love slides and playgrounds, we have more ideas to share. Check out our list of the most interesting slides in Lithuania and our guide to the best playgrounds.

New and unique playground in Lithuania

The new playground at the Lithuanian Zoo and one of the longest slides in Lithuania create a modern outdoor space for children of different ages. Nevertheless, we noticed that this place works differently from typical playgrounds. It keeps kids interested for a long time, and the main 23-meter slide is the big attraction that is hard to leave.

The designers created this area not just for play but also for learning. Here, entertainment goes hand in hand with education. The playground, located within the Lithuanian Zoo, stands out because it preserves the natural setting. Trees, landscape, and plants create a different feeling than you would find in most city spaces.

Because of this, the playground may become one of the best choices for families looking for things to do with kids in Kaunas outdoors. It’s easy to spend more time here than you planned. That’s exactly what happened to us: we planned to stay for an hour but ended up spending two. Fortunately, the slides meet all safety requirements – there are barriers and rubber mats for a safe landing.

This new space could be the answer to a common question for parents: what to do with children in Kaunas if you want not only fun but also time in the fresh air.

The renewed Lithuanian Zoo

In 2023, after two years of reconstruction, the Lithuanian Zoo welcomed visitors with renovated and new spaces. The education center and the exotarium especially impressed us. There, our kids spent more time than in any other exhibition. We found not only cozy communal areas and educational films but also themed animal spaces. Here, you can explore different climate zones and come face to face with animals – turtles, birds, and reptiles. This area is very similar to what you might find in foreign zoos.

The zoo itself is well-maintained and offers plenty of rest areas and spaces for leisure.
