Loro park in Tenerife: news, tickets, and tips on how to save money

Loro Parque is one of the most well-known zoo and conservation parks in Europe, located in Puerto de la Cruz (in the northern part of Tenerife). It is not only a zoo, but also a great family attraction. At the same time, it is important to highlight that it is also a nature conservation center that carries out numerous scientific studies and aims to protect endangered species.

Loro park in Tenerife has been visited by our family many times, however this time we were especially attracted by last year’s and this year’s news in the park, and we also want to share with you how to save money – tickets to the park and our tips – everything in one article.

Loro park in Tenerife: news, tickets, and tips on how to save money

The biggest news: the new Coral Kingdom exhibition

At the beginning of 2024, Coral Kingdom opened as the largest coral reef outside the ocean. The exhibition is 40 meters long and features more than 8,000 corals and around 10,000 marine fish.

This separate exhibition impresses not only with the variety of corals, but also with 360° experiences using holograms and projections that resemble a tropical reef.

The goal of this new exhibition is to educate visitors about the importance of endangered corals. Moreover, it aims to inspire more care for marine ecosystems.

The latest update: the orca group welcomed a newborn calf

At the end of March 2025, one of the orcas that has lived in the park the longest, named Morgan, gave birth to a calf called Teno. Interestingly, Morgan herself was rescued in 2010 near the Dutch coast. She was found with skin scratches, inflammation, and in very poor condition. After Morgan recovered at the Harderwijk Dolphinarium, a group of international orca scientists concluded that returning her to the sea would almost certainly condemn her to a slow death. Therefore, the Dutch authorities asked Loro Parque to take Morgan in so that she could integrate into a social orca group. She was transferred to the park in 2011. Since then, she has been living at Loro park, and she also takes part in research and conservation activities. In 2018, she had her first calf, and the park describes her as one of the most caring orca mothers.

What you must see and not miss at Loro park?

The shows are the main highlights, and they are all included in the ticket price:

  1. Orca show. The biggest stage in Loro park, with impressive orca tricks and an introduction to these majestic animals. Tip: the first rows are called the “Splash zone,” and you will get soaked. So, choose your seats carefully.
  2. Dolphin show. Energetic, with synchronized jumps and playful moments.
  3. Sea lion show. A fun and interactive show with comedic moments. We truly recommend it: laughter is guaranteed.
  4. Parrot show. Want to see these colorful birds up close? Then this is the perfect chance.

Exhibitions worth your attention that we highly recommend not to miss:

  • Planet Penguin is the largest penguin habitat in Europe. It is also a unique opportunity to see king penguins in Tenerife.
  • An underwater tunnel with sharks, moray eels, and tropical fish.
  • The jellyfish exhibition. We also call it jellyfish meditation. Large aquariums with colorful jellyfish of different sizes.
  • Parrot world. The largest parrot collection in the world (around 4,000 parrots, 350 species). In addition, there is a separate large indoor parrot garden where you can go inside and observe the birds very closely.
  • Gorilla island. Watch the lives of strong and charismatic gorillas from up close.
  • Animal Embassy area. This is one of our children’s favorite zones. Of course, it does not always work out to see what we are looking for, but… We will share a secret: in spring and summer, you can very often see newly hatched parrot chicks here. They are extremely cute and funny. Also, the park treats sick animals here. For kids, it is truly a useful biology lesson.

Activities for children – for little adventure seekers

In the children’s area Kinderlandia, little ones will find climbing paths surrounded by trees, rope bridges, snake-shaped slides, and the Orca train (one ride costs 1 euro).

You can also organize birthdays or other celebrations here. There are convenient picnic areas available as well.

Visitor information: tickets, opening hours, and services

Ticket prices:

  • Children up to 3 years old: free entry.
  • Children aged 3–11: special price of 32 euros.
  • Adults and children from 12 years old: 44 euros.

You can buy tickets in advance safely and without queues. With these tickets, you go straight to the entrance.

Additionally, our readers often ask about tickets with a bus that takes you from and back to the south of Tenerife. Here you can also buy a ticket that includes the bus.

IMPORTANT NOTE: only buy tickets from legal sellers if you want to avoid entry problems and if you do not want to support dishonest market participants. The park’s policy is very strict for all LEGAL sellers. Prices must be the same everywhere. Therefore, if you find lower prices than here, especially significantly lower, that means those are illegal sellers. Be extremely careful and trust only legal ticket sellers. Otherwise, you risk staying outside the park gates and losing your money.

How to save money

To save money, always buy the TWIN ticket for two parks: Loro park and Siam water park. The price of this ticket is ONLY 78 euros. For children, it is ONLY 57 euros for both parks, and the ticket is required from the age of 3. A detailed instruction on how and where to buy tickets: in our article Siam and Loro park tickets cheaper.

You can also buy TWIN tickets with transport included.

Opening hours and programs

Loro park is open every day from 9:30 to 18:30.

Animal shows last around 20 minutes. So, if you visit the park and you see big crowds, come to the show much earlier than the scheduled start time. In total, there are about 17 shows per day, and they are included in the ticket price.

Services and facilities

A free train operates from Puerto de la Cruz approximately every 20 minutes.

There is parking (paid: 7 euros), restaurants (children’s menu, buffet, and fast food), souvenir shops, free Wi-Fi, facilities for people with disabilities.

Tips and recommendations

Arrive early in the morning so you can make it to all shows.

Also, bring comfortable footwear and clothing, sun protection, and water (you can safely bring your own drinks and snacks). However, do not feed the animals under any circumstances.

However, we noticed that in the afternoon and evening there are fewer people at the shows. In contrast, the biggest crowds usually appear at the first shows of the day.
