Warsaw: “The Royal Garden of Light” – a light festival in the garden of Wilanów Palace

Until the end of February, Warsaw’s Wilanów district turns into a true kingdom of lights. It happens next to the baroque palace of King Jan III Sobieski, that “The Royal Garden of Light” comes alive. Moreover, it is one of the most impressive light events in all of Poland. Every year, this festival attracts thousands of curious visitors who want to walk through a glowing park created from hundreds of thousands of lights.

As you enter the festively decorated area, you will see light tunnels, sparkling trees, art installations, and baroque sculptures. In addition, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the evenings end with breathtaking 3D projection shows on the palace façade. Then, next year, the exhibition will be completely renewed.

The event runs until February 28, 2026. However, it operates only during specific hours: at the end of October, from 17:00 to 21:00, and in the winter months, from 16:00 to 21:00. Warsaw: “Magical Botanical” (“Magiczny Botaniczny”) light installations in the botanical garden in central Warsaw

The heart of the city can surprise not only with architecture or history, but also with a magical world of lights. In the Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw, located very close to the famous Łazienki Royal Park, evenings from November become a real light fairy tale. Moreover, for the third season in a row, the exhibition “Magical Botanical” takes place here, where plants shine in completely new colors.

The highlight of this event is the light installations created especially for this location. In addition, the botanical garden paths lead past glowing flowers, trees, birds, and forest animals. At the same time, it is not only beautiful: the light compositions tell stories about the relationship between humans and nature, as well as legends and fairy tales connected to plants. For younger visitors, a special play area is set up. Moreover, if you get tired, you can warm up with hot chocolate or tea, which you can buy on site.

Warsaw: light installations in Łazienki Royal Garden

Among old trees, historic buildings, and quietly peaceful paths, Łazienki Royal Park fills with subtle light in winter. This event does not look like the large ticketed light exhibitions with projections. However, the winter illuminations here become a special city gift for everyone: they are free, accessible, and full of historic romance.

During the festive period, Aleja Chińska (Chinese Avenue), running between the gates on Agrykola and Gagarina streets, features large glowing figures several meters tall. These are women and men in old-fashioned clothing, as if from an 18th-century walking painting. In addition, both entrances to the park are lit, from Agrykola and from Gagarina streets. The lights shine daily from dusk until 20:00, and the gates close at 20:15.

The exact lighting schedule for the 2025–2026 season has not yet been announced. However, traditionally, the illuminations turn on in late November or early December, and they shine until the end of January or early February.

The park is open daily from 6:00 to 20:00, and entry is free. Since most of the paths are poorly lit, it is worth taking a phone or a flashlight with you, especially if you plan to walk farther from the main light zone. By the way, pay attention to the trees near the pond. In the evenings, you can often see peacocks sitting on the branches there. Moreover, a small café operates in the park near the main building.

The winter lights operate in Łazienki Royal Park, at: ul. Agrykola 1, central Warsaw, near the Sejm building and Belweder.
