Vienkiemis Homestead

Updated:

Vienkiemis Homestead is located in Padvariai village, right next to Kretinga. Notably, this countryside tourism and leisure complex offers a variety of accommodation options – from hotel-style rooms and apartments to private holiday cottages. In addition, everything at Vienkiemis is in one area – accommodation, a restaurant, play spaces, the Gnome Village, animals, and relaxation areas with saunas.

Accommodation at Vienkiemis – from rooms to private cottages

Vienkiemis Homestead provides different types of accommodation. The complex features 12 double rooms, 4 apartments, 9 separate holiday cottages, and a historic granary.

Private cottages are especially convenient for families, offering more privacy, personal space, and the chance to relax quietly in nature in the evenings.

With such a range of choices, you can stay as a couple, with children, or in a larger group.

We stayed in a two-bedroom villa overlooking the grounds. We found all the essentials for a comfortable stay, a kitchenette, and many cozy details. The villa also has a terrace with furniture.

For kids – playgrounds and activity spaces

One of Vienkiemis’s biggest advantages for families is the dedicated spaces for children.

Throughout the homestead, you’ll find various wooden swings, rockers, slides, playgrounds, and sculptures. Kids can run, play, and explore the grounds, making it especially convenient for parents who want not only accommodation, but also a place where children have plenty of activities.

There are animals here too, so little ones will always find something to do. On summer Sundays, Clown Bomas entertains the kids from 3 p.m. with fun, gifts, and games.

Gnome Village – the spot that will surprise kids most

However, one of the most fascinating places for children is definitely the GnomeVillage.

Next to the Akmena River, a whole fairy tale world awaits. Here you’ll find miniature dwarf houses, a school, a tiny church, a mill, and even a bakery. Some houses can be entered, so for kids, these are not just beautiful decorations, but also extra play spaces.

The Gnome Village beautifully complements the entire Vienkiemis grounds and gives it a unique character. As a result, it’s fun for children and adults to walk among the little buildings, notice the details, and for a moment, feel like you’ve stepped into a tiny fairy tale town.

Saunas and Jacuzzi

For those who want both active fun and relaxation, Vienkiemis Homestead offers several sauna options.

Here you’ll find Lithuanian, Turkish, and Russian saunas, each with its own whirlpool area. Saunas can be rented by guests of Vienkiemis or anyone looking for a cozy place to spend time with family and friends, or to celebrate a special occasion.

Great restaurant so you never have to worry about where to eat

Another big advantage, especially for families, is that the restaurant is on-site.

The Vienkiemis tavern focuses on traditional Samogitian cuisine. The menu includes unique regional dishes, and in summer, there’s an outdoor café with terraces on the banks of the Akmena River.

You can spend the whole day in the complex – the restaurant is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. The menu is diverse, so everyone can find or even discover new favorite dishes. We highly recommend trying the cepelinai, braised veal, and beef cheeks. Be sure to taste the homemade kvass. All the food is truly delicious and fresh.

Our experience after a short break at Vienkiemis – we definitely recommend this place for a seaside holiday.
