Ingredients
- 500 g chicken breast fillets
- 2 eggs
- 4–5 tbsp cornflour or potato starch
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Oil for frying
- 4 tbsp tomato sauce (for the sauce) – we use natural tomato paste
- 2–3 tbsp sugar or honey (for the sauce)
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- Sesame seeds, for sprinkling
Preparation
Prepare the chicken. First, cut the chicken into small cubes and season with salt and pepper.
Next, beat the eggs in one bowl and place the starch in another. Add the chopped chicken to the beaten eggs and mix well until every piece is coated. Then, transfer the chicken pieces to the starch and coat them evenly.
Fry the chicken. Heat the oil in a frying pan. Fry the chicken in batches until the pieces turn golden brown and crispy.
Make the sweet and sour sauce. Meanwhile, mix the tomato paste, sugar, and rice vinegar to prepare the sauce.
Next, add the sauce and fried chicken to the pan. Stir-fry briefly until the chicken pieces are coated in sauce while still remaining crispy.
Finally, sprinkle with sesame seeds or chopped spring onions.
