New free orienteering game launches in Vilnius: prizes and unexpected city discoveries await

From Atlantis and the dark side of the moon to a flooded forest, a high bog, a mushroom-covered bridge, or a city of the future, Vilnius street artists invite you to travel to other worlds. In fact, they offer you a ticket to places that exist beyond everyday reality. Everyone spending the summer in the capital is invited to try the free “Neakivaizdinis Vilnius” street art orienteering game “Vilniaus gatvės – prie meno” and win prizes. Moreover, the updated and expanded themed route now includes the newest neofrescoes.

New free orienteering game launches in Vilnius: prizes and unexpected city discoveries await

“We have an answer for anyone raising their hands in wonder about what to do in Vilnius this summer – dive into street art. The capital has been rapidly filling with new street art pieces lately. Besides, we want to revive the life buzzing in Vilnius’s streets and believe it’s worth giving in to the city’s energy. There is so much street art here, full of meaningful messages about what matters to the city and its people. The new free orienteering game, created especially for summer, will help you discover the brightest works on building walls, in courtyards, or along the river,” explains “Neakivaizdinis Vilnius” leader Sonata Griškienė.

How to play the game

The “Vilniaus gatvės – prie meno” street art orienteering game runs from July 1 to August 31. During the game, you can explore five colorful routes featuring dozens of street art pieces. Meanwhile, you’ll complete challenges that will help you see Vilnius from a new perspective.

You can play solo or in teams of up to six people. The game uses GPS on your phone. When you reach a street art piece, a task will be unlocked (a question, a photo challenge, or a riddle). Complete it, and the journey continues. Finally, everyone who finishes the game can enter to win Vilnius Explorer prizes.

How to participate?

How can you win prizes?

  • The organizers choose the winners by lottery. To enter the draw, you must complete at least three routes.
  • The organizers will announce the winners on July 22, August 12, and August 31.
  • If you complete all five routes, you have a chance to win the main prize on August 31.

Refreshed free Vilnius street art route

If you want to discover more street art in Vilnius, there’s also a refreshed free route, “Vilniaus gatvės menas. Šiandienos miesto metraštis, įamžintas gatvių fasaduose” (“Vilnius street art. A chronicle of today’s city immortalized on street facades”). You can explore it independently at any time. In addition, street art stops now appear in almost every district – from Grigiškės to Antakalnis and Šeškinė, under bridges, in underground passages, and on school facades. The route includes more than 80 street art pieces. The most observant fans will recognize works by Lina Šlipavičiūtė, Linas Kaziulionis, Morfai, Ettoja, Mykolė, Kipras Petrulis, and others.

“I think it’s safe to say that street art has become an important part of Vilnius’s identity. There’s more of it because the city now welcomes creative initiatives, and artists increasingly choose public spaces to communicate with the community. This sends a message to locals and visitors alike that Vilnius is a vibrant, creative, and ever-changing city where art is part of everyday life,” shares artist Linas Kaziulionis.
