This year, Pakruojis Manor spring flower festival 2026 celebrates its fifth anniversary. The theme is “Renaissance.” The 10-hectare manor park has turned into a living spring painting, featuring more than five million tulips and other blooming flowers. Throughout the festival, the organizers present visitors with creative and educational experiences inspired by the spirit of the Renaissance.
This year’s festival program includes not only impressive flower displays, but also a variety of educational and creative experiences. The manor grounds feature a discovery route that invites visitors to explore different spaces. Invention workshops inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s ideas offer a closer look at innovations born during the Renaissance.
During the festival, guests can become part of Renaissance masterpieces and join living paintings among the flowers. They can also listen to stories about the great geographic discoveries and learn about the history of the first Lithuanian book. In addition, they can take part in creative activities and games for children. In the manor’s farm area, visitors will find animals and the authentic rhythm of manor life.
Our experience at the Pakruojis Manor spring flower festival
We have visited the Pakruojis Manor spring flower festival more than once, so we knew that you needed to set aside at least half a day for the experience. Believe us, Pakruojis Manor is truly a unique place, with an atmosphere like nowhere else. Flowers bloom all around the manor, music plays, and there are always various educational activities and entertainment going on. Children can enjoy the carousel, princess house, and vintage arcade games. There is also a Lithuanian potato-meat dumplings courtyard, and you can taste locally made drinks. In fact, this is a huge complex where every family member will find something to enjoy. The manor grounds are incredibly extensive, so be sure to plan plenty of time for your visit.
New educational activities at Pakruojis Manor
We have already tried several educational activities at Pakruojis Manor, so we were glad to see new workshops in this year’s festival program. And believe us, these activities are interesting not only for children. When you arrive at the Spring Flower Festival, be sure to pick up the list of that day’s workshops at the entrance, as there are many to choose from and they are truly engaging. We participated in two new educational sessions.
“Galileo’s Great Discoveries” is a unique workshop where you can learn about the famous Renaissance scientist Galileo. You’ll discover how Galileo observed nature, constantly asked “why,” and sought answers through various experiments. The most fun part of this workshop was making your own Newton’s color disk and testing how it works.
Sun photography workshop
At the manor shop, we not only picked up some unique manor treats but also took part in the Sun Photography workshop. I have to admit, this was a completely new experience for all of us – we had never tried anything like it before. Did you know about the cyanotype sun photography technique, which appeared back in the 19th century? The UV rays from the sun act as invisible light magicians, able to transform both us and the objects around us. With their help, ordinary items – flowers, leaves, lace, or even a surface decorated with keys – leave their mark on blue-tinted paper. This is how a unique piece of art is created: a mysterious “photo” made not with a camera, but by the sun itself.
During the workshop, we learned about the secrets of ultraviolet rays and once again deepened our knowledge of why sunscreen is important. We heard a brief history of cyanotype and learned why it’s called “sun photography.” However, the most enjoyable part was creating our own plant print on photosensitive paper. The children especially loved bringing home their hand-made sun pictures.
Overnight stay at the manor and grill dinner
On the manor grounds, you’ll find a dumpling courtyard and a café called Aptieka, where they serve an absolutely delicious carrot cake. Next to the mill, there’s the Traktierius Tavern, which is a great place to enjoy a fantastic meal. However, what surprised us the most were the Saturday grill dinners, where you can eat as much as you want. We were thrilled to get a last-minute table reservation.
But what truly made our experience special was spending the night in the Miller’s House. We took our time enjoying the flower festival and its program, had a wonderful evening at the grill dinner, and had a restful night at the Miller’s House. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and took a walk around the manor before heading home. The whole weekend was an amazing experience, and we sincerely recommend it.
Grill Dinner at Pakruojis Manor
The grill feast at Pakruojis Manor isn’t just a dinner – it’s a true food celebration, where for €29 you can eat as much as you like. The menu ranges from unique grilled dishes to authentic Lithuanian cuisine. However, delicious food is just part of the experience; what awaits you here is a unique evening that is truly worth your attention.
Dinner starts at 6:00 PM and continues until 9:00 PM. You’ll find a buffet, and all the food served is included in the one-time payment. On the table, you’ll discover a creative variety of meat dishes – steaks, chicken, pork knuckle, pig’s ears, and pork chops. There are also fresh and baked vegetables, as well as handmade pickled and marinated veggies. There are also appetizers, soup, and Lithuanian specialties like kugelis and vėdarai. My personal favorite, a delicacy you’ll hardly find anywhere else, is the stewed hearts. You can eat as many of these dishes as you want, whenever you want, throughout the evening.
But that’s not all – throughout the night, a gong rings to announce that the chef has prepared special dishes. During our visit, we got to taste the chef’s highlights: calamari tentacles, baked cabbage, baked trout, ribs, and pork roulade, at least those we managed to try since we arrived a bit later than dinner started.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is truly special. Food is constantly being served, the decor is beautiful, music plays, and the staff is very friendly.
Overnight stay at Pakruojis Manor or at the Miller’s house
The hotel at Pakruojis Manor, located right in the palace, offers a unique experience – here, you’ll immerse yourself in a 19th-century atmosphere and luxury. There are 11 unique rooms available: from doubles and triples to exclusive Baron and Baroness suites. Festival tickets are included in the price, so staying here means being in the heart of the celebration. Each room provides bathrobes, slippers, towels, toiletries, as well as internet access and a minibar with water and glasses. The windows overlook the flower gardens or the festively decorated manor courtyard.
However, we chose the cozier Miller’s House for our overnight stay. The Miller’s House offers rooms of various sizes and all the necessary amenities. Our children were especially impressed by the experience – Paulė slept in a straw baby crib, and Motiejus loved the authentic atmosphere of the room. The kids said they felt like they were in a movie.
