II Valakampiai beach

This beach is smaller than I Valakampiai, and we prefer it because it is calmer. Here you will find changing cabins and toilets. There is also a small playground. In addition, there are gazebos, and if you manage to find a free one, it is very convenient with kids. There is plenty of shade and a sandy shore.

Žirmūnai Beach

This beach has Blue Flag status. Here you will find basketball and volleyball courts, outdoor fitness equipment, playgrounds, and showers. Lifeguards are also on duty.

Balsys Beach

This beach also has Blue Flag status. You can easily reach it by public transport. Parking is paid. There are paths for people with disabilities, so it works well with a stroller. In addition, there are playgrounds, changing cabins, and toilets. The shore is sandy, and there is plenty of shade, which is very convenient with kids.

Balžis Beach

You can reach this beach by public transport as well. You need to pay for parking. The sandy shore is very beautiful. On the northern side, a wakeboarding park operates during summer. Meanwhile, on the western side, you will find a beach adapted for people with mobility disabilities, so you can easily use it with strollers.

In 2022, this beach area was renovated, and a large amount of sand was brought in, so swimming is ideal. Many benches and tables were installed. There is also a playground and changing cabins. The whole area is very well maintained. Therefore, this is one of our top recommendations.

Valley in Trakai (Slėnis Trakuose)

The Slėnis complex in Trakai likely has one of the most beautiful beaches near Vilnius with well-developed infrastructure. The beach is paid, but it is definitely worth it. It is private, so you can use all amenities. There are free sunbeds, chairs, a playground, and most importantly, plenty of shade, which is very important when visiting with kids. The lakeshore is tidy, and the water is shallow and deepens slowly, so it is ideal for children. In addition, the view of Trakai Castle is truly impressive.

Skaistis lake recreation area

This place has a large lakeshore and very clear, clean water. There is a big parking area. You will also find playgrounds, changing cabins, fire pits, and gazebos. Nearby, there is a great walking path. There is also plenty of shade.

Elektrėnai lagoon

This is a great beach for families with kids. It has well-maintained infrastructure, and there is a café nearby. There are also changing cabins. The shore is very shallow and gently sloping. Most importantly, there is a FREE WATER SLIDE FOR CHILDREN. It is one of our favorite swimming spots. However, before visiting, we recommend checking water quality, because sometimes swimming is not recommended.

Širvintos city beach

This area is very well maintained and suitable for children. There is a public toilet and a great playground nearby. There is also a FREE WATER SLIDE. Access by car is very convenient. In addition, there are water trampolines, and across the bridge you will find even more playgrounds. Honestly, it could be a paid beach because it is so well maintained and offers many activities for kids.

Kalvis lake shore

This area is very nicely arranged. You will find changing cabins, benches, and a volleyball court. The sandy shore is very comfortable, so it is a great place for relaxing and swimming with kids. It is a bit further from Vilnius.

Akmena lake

This lake has a great 175 m long shoreline. The shore is excellent, and there are changing cabins. However, parking is paid. It is one of only two beaches in Trakai district with official beach status. In addition to the sandy area, there is a large grassy space with benches. It is a great spot for a picnic.

Gėla lake

Very close to Vilnius, just 2 km from Nemenčinė, this is one of the cleanest lakes in the area. The sandy shore is very clean and well maintained. There is also a changing cabin. People know the lake not only for its clear water. On one side of the lake, you can bathe in clay. Yes, really. On the northeast shore, near the second beach, you will find a clay bath, and white clay covers the entire shore. However, there are warnings about glass shards, so be very careful. We usually stay close to the shoreline where the clay begins.

Lampėdžiai quarry

There are two access roads – one from Raudondvario road, turning toward the bypass on the right side. There is a paid entrance called Lampėdžiai beach. The area is tidy, and you will find changing cabins and toilets. There is also a campsite. Nearby, there is a wake park (and another one in Akademija).

The other option is the old beach – from Raudondvario road, turn into Kulautuva street and keep right at the end. We usually go toward Uno park, as in our opinion, the sand there is the nicest, and there is also a playground nearby.

Pažaislis beach

This is a large, very well-maintained beach. It has easy access. During the season, lifeguards are on duty, and you will find changing cabins. Nearby, there is a yacht club where you can rent boats.

Didžioji Dailidė lake

For visitors’ convenience, the area has pedestrian and bicycle paths, lighting, a beach, rest areas with gazebos and fire pits, volleyball and children’s playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, a boat pier with a pontoon bridge, and a lifeguard station. At Dailidė lake, a wake park operates, there is a beach, and nearby you can rent electric scooters.

Meteliai and Dusia beaches

At the beach on Meteliai lake shore, you will find changing cabins and a children’s playground. Nearby, there is also the Meteliai observation tower with a great lake view. Dusia and Metelys are probably the most suitable lakes in Lithuania for children because of their shallow shore. You should definitely visit – they are among the most beautiful beaches in Lithuania!

If you plan swimming with young children, travel from Zarasai toward Ignalina and do not miss the turn to Šventas lake. The shore of Šventas lake is one of the best places for swimming with the youngest children. In good weather, the shore can get crowded. However, if you come from bigger cities, it may not seem that crowded.
