Legoland parks are probably the most popular and most desired amusement parks for children in the world. Therefore, trips to Legoland are often a dream for many children. Currently, there are as many as 11 Legoland parks worldwide, and the largest and newest one recently opened its doors in Shanghai. However, most Lithuanian families still choose trips to Legoland in Denmark. Meanwhile, we want to share our own tested travel recommendation – Legoland park in Germany: an affordable travel idea that will impress the whole family.

Legoland park in Germany: an affordable travel idea that will impress the whole family
At the moment, there are eleven Legoland parks in the world. Three Legolands in the USA – in California, Florida and New York states, one in the United Kingdom, in Windsor near London. Also as many as five in Asia (Shanghai, Malaysia, Japan, Dubai and Korea) and two in Europe – in Germany and Denmark – the birthplace of LEGO. Many families, wanting to visit Legoland, choose Denmark, however we all know that a trip to Denmark is really not a cheap pleasure, because accommodation and food are extremely expensive in this country. Our family had been planning to visit Legoland for a long time, however we postponed this trip for a long time. However, this year during Motiejus’ birthday we decided to visit Legoland in Germany. And we are very happy with our choice, because Legoland park in Germany: an affordable travel idea that will impress the whole family.
This trip cost us really less than we would have spent visiting Legoland in Denmark. So if you are considering a trip to Legoland, we highly recommend considering a trip specifically to Germany.
Legoland park in Germany: how to travel and where to stay
You can reach Legoland in Germany by car or by plane. Legoland Germany is located near the town of Günzburg, so you can reach it by car in two days with an overnight stop, without rushing. However, flying from Vilnius is also very convenient. The park is easy to reach from two German cities with direct flights from Lithuania. You can get there by car in about one hour from Munich airport or in two hours from Nuremberg airport. Especially to Nuremberg, you can often find very cheap flights, and during promotions, return tickets can cost around 40 euros. You can also quickly and conveniently rent a car through Discover Cars. It is a reliable company that we personally use when traveling.

Accommodation in Germany is significantly cheaper than in Denmark. The easiest way is to book through booking.com. If you want a truly special Legoland experience, choose hotels located in Legoland. Their prices are higher, but the stay usually includes park tickets and often meals.

If you are looking for a fun family trip during school holidays, Legoland Germany might be the right destination for you.
Legoland park in Germany: an affordable travel idea. Park tickets
Our family chooses to travel during birthdays and important celebrations, so we usually celebrate both our own and our children’s birthdays abroad. Moreover, traveling during birthdays can help you save money. Many amusement parks around the world give children a free ticket on their birthday. During his birthday visit to Legoland, Motiejus not only received a free ticket but also created a LEGO figure for free in the shop. If you plan to visit during your child’s birthday, write to us and we will share how to get a free ticket.

If you plan your visit in advance, you can also look for LEGO catalogs, because they often include 1+1 coupons or discounted tickets for children.
You can conveniently buy tickets online – on the website prices start from 39 EUR per person. You can also buy them on site, however there are often long queues at the ticket offices.
Legoland Germany with children
Legoland Germany has 68 attractions, a miniature Germany built from LEGO, and thousands of other LEGO constructions. The whole park is divided into 9 zones: Lego Mythica, Lego Ninjago World, Lego City, Lego X-Treme, Imagination, Pharaohs Land, Knight’s Kingdom, Adventure Land, and Pirate Land.

As in many amusement parks, different attractions have different height requirements. However, since most rides are not extremely intense, they do not measure height in millimeters like in Energylandia. In addition, there are many attractions for younger children, so smaller kids will not feel left out.
The park has many playgrounds and other areas suitable for younger children. Younger kids will especially enjoy the colorful LEGO Duplo area with water fountains, where they can cool off on hot days, so do not forget extra clothes. In addition, there are many attractions for families throughout the park, including a train, cars, and more.

We really liked the express train, all roller coasters, and water attractions, while Motiejus especially enjoyed the Lego Ninjago attraction where the ride spins upside down. We also liked the LEGO factory and LEGO city.
Children will also enjoy LEGO building zones, and there are spaces with computer games as well.

Practical tips
Parking at Legoland is paid, so we recommend buying a parking ticket together with your entrance tickets online, as it will be faster and easier.
There is a wide selection of food in the park. In most zones, you will find several restaurants and dessert places. There are pizzas, burgers, salads, schnitzels, Asian dishes, ice cream, waffles, popcorn, and drinks. Food prices are similar to Lithuania, maybe slightly higher. There are also many family offers, and you can buy unlimited drinks that you can refill every 10 minutes in a special LEGO cup. You can also bring your own snacks and drinks, as there are no restrictions.
The area is quite large, so strollers will be useful for children.
There are many souvenir shops throughout the park. In our opinion, prices are higher than in Lithuania, but the selection is very large. We saw some LEGO models that we had never seen in Lithuania. In addition, there are specific models sold only in Legoland. However, we liked the LEGO figure shop the most, where you can build your own LEGO figure. In the same shop, you can also find LEGO DUPLO pieces sold by weight or individually.
Tips and recommendations
There are many picnic and relaxation areas in the park. All information is also available in English, so everything is easy to find. The staff is helpful and friendly, and they assist when needed.
The only downside is that there are also paid activities inside the park.

The park opens at 10:00 and operates until 18:00 or 19:00. Attractions close one hour before the park closes. We recommend arriving before opening time, as entry already started at 9:30. In addition, it takes time to find parking and walk to the park. This way, you will make the most of your time inside.
We spent one day in Legoland, but you would need two days to experience everything. The next day, we visited the nearby Peppa Pig park, which we recommend for families with younger children. The park is truly wonderful and our whole family enjoyed it. Would we return? Definitely yes.

If you are planning a trip to Legoland, make sure to explore and compare which one you would prefer to visit more – Legoland in Germany or in Denmark.
