Training bike course next to the Vaidilutė sports field

This bike track suits riders who want to learn basic biking skills on small hills. It helps people improve their control of the bike.

The track consists of a sand and clay mixture. There are also elements that help beginners learn safely. They include hills, balance obstacles, and sections with different surfaces.

We like this place with kids. There is Valakampiai beach nearby. Also there are playgrounds and the Vaidilutė sports field.

Vaidilutė sports and leisure field

Vilnius municipality recently renewed this area. It used to be abandoned. Now it is a fantastic leisure space for people who like beach volleyball, tennis, gym equipment, and padel.

You will find:

  • two padel courts
  • tennis courts
  • a volleyball court
  • a beach tennis court
  • gym equipment

People can use this space without registration and for free.

“Žali” playground and leisure area

Six years ago a playground and leisure area appeared near the IKI Žali shopping center in Balsiai. Back then it was the first pumptrack in Lithuania. Since then, more pumptracks have opened across the country. However, this one is still Motiejus’ favorite. “Žali” has two parts. First, there is a small track for beginners. It is 33 m long and 134 m² in size. In addition, it sits right next to the playground. Meanwhile, the big track suits all ages and skill levels. Its length is 222 m and its surface area is 600 m².

Moreover, this track works for everyone. It is different from skate parks. For example, people of any level can start riding with any type of wheels. Because of that, both kids and adults feel comfortable here.

Next to the pumptrack there is a playground with a soft surface. So younger siblings also find something to do. Meanwhile, we enjoy this place as a family. When Motiejus rides, we drink coffee or eat a quick wok on the bench. Besides, the whole area feels relaxed and casual. Finally, it is simply a fun place to spend time together.

Tauras hill park and leisure area with a playground

This is the newest leisure area for families in Vilnius. At the end of 2024 the renovation of Tauro hill finished. Two playgrounds appeared in the park. They combine modern and natural design to match the terrain. In addition, there is an outdoor gym on the upper terrace. You can reach different areas by paths without stairs from several streets.

There is a playground with a soft surface on top of the hill. It is modern and interesting. It feels new and unique. You cannot find playgrounds like this in Vilnius. The official age is 5 years and up. However, younger kids can also play here. There is a similar playground in the middle of the hill.

“Rain” park (Lietaus parkas) and nearby leisure area in Šeškinė

Rain park near Ozo street and Siesikų street is a great place for families. There are walking and cycling paths. Also there is a playground, benches with tables, and rest areas.

We also like a small well maintained area next to the park. It looks like a countryside place even though it is in the center. There is white sand where kids can play. There is also a pond with ducks and a forest with squirrels. Outdoor furniture made from pallets makes it a perfect place for a picnic.

This leisure area is not only fun but also interesting. The biggest rainwater treatment and storage facility in Lithuania is here. The tank holds 20,000 cubic meters of water. During heavy rain it fills in 42 minutes. The deepest point is 4 meters.

Perkūnas square

Perkūnas square opened last year as a new and very nice place for families in Vilnius. There is one of the most modern playgrounds in Vilnius. The whole playground has a soft surface. So it suits small children well.

There is a unique ring game where children can flip upside down. We have not seen this game in other playgrounds.

There is also a basketball and football court. You will find gym equipment, a table tennis table, a chess board, picnic tables, and a quiet zone with hammocks. There is a circular track around the area for roller skates and scooters. Parking is difficult, because there are many residential buildings nearby.

Šnipiškės square

This newly opened leisure area is great for families. Šnipiškės square sits near the city center, between Kintų and Giedraičių streets.

This area is a community place for outdoor events. Friends can meet here. There is a basketball court and a playground with a soft surface. There is also an original walking bridge and terraces with seating. Our kids really liked the small water stream. It is best to arrive by public transport or on foot, because parking costs money.

Airplane viewing platform

Some free places for kids in Lithuania are unique. This is the only place where you can watch planes this close. It is a fun spot for young children and older kids. Adults also enjoy it. There is a nice playground next to the platform. Families spend great time here.

When to come? It is best when many flights take off or land. We recommend checking the Vilnius airport website. It shows real time flights. You can also use Flightradar. It shows passenger, cargo, and technical flights.
