The world of bees is full of small wonders and quiet secrets. Because of them, we enjoy golden honey, fragrant wax, and many other gifts of nature. And when all of this is explained by someone who truly lives with bees and follows their rhythm, a few shared hours turn into a special memory.
We left with exactly such a memory after meeting the beekeeper Irena Kompauskienė. She is not only the beekeeper and educator of Pakruojis Manor but also the owner of Bzzz Farm. She loves her work and shares this love with others. Warm as a candle flame – a beekeeper’s educational activity for the family that we enjoyed.
Warm as a candle flame – a beekeeper’s educational activity for the whole family
The first meeting – full of honey and wax scents
At Pakruojis Manor, Irena welcomed us in her cozy workshop filled with the smell of honey and wax. It was a warm day, so the wax cooled slowly. Even so, the place felt perfect for a calm story and an unhurried moment together. Irena’s peaceful presence shaped the entire educational activity, especially when she talked about bees, the beekeeping world, and old traditions.
She explained how honey is created, how people used to pour candles long ago, and why beeswax is so special. After that, we moved to practice and started pouring our own candles. The process was slow, yet this slowness helped us feel a sense of peace. It seemed that not only we relaxed, but the wax itself also settled.
Later, a sweet tasting of honey and other bee products awaited us.
This educational activity felt warm, calming, and full of kindness. For us, it became a moment of quiet relaxation. We also brought home our own handmade, fragrant candles.
Educational activities at Bzzz Farm – even closer to bees
If you want to learn even more about the world of bees, you can visit Irena’s family farm Bzzz Farm. Here you will feel the bees’ life up close – from the humming hive to wax melting and candle making.
Educational activities at the farm give you a chance to:
- see bee families in their natural environment,
- learn how honey, wax, propolis, and bee bread are made,
- try on protective clothing and look inside a hive,
- pour your own candle.
And just like at the manor, sweet tastings are part of the visit. You can also buy candles, honey, bee bread, and other bee products.
The beekeeper’s secret – her ability to connect
Irena’s educational activities combine knowledge with warmth. She has a special gift for talking with children. They listen with curiosity, ask questions, and join the activities without hesitation. Meanwhile, adults gain new respect for the bees’ work and understand how complex the daily life of these small workers is.
With Irena, the educational activitiy becomes more than information. It becomes an experience that calms you, inspires creativity, and lets you spend genuine time together.
A beekeeper’s educational activity both at Pakruojis Manor and at the bee farm
At Pakruojis Manor, the educational activities takes place in the manor’s farm area.
At Bzzz Farm, the programs are broader and allow you to see bee life in a natural environment.
Both places welcome families, groups of friends, and school groups. Educational activities last about one or two hours, yet the impressions stay with you for much longer.
Why should you try it?
If you want an activity that feels meaningful, warm, and interesting, this educational activity is a wonderful choice. It suits both children and adults. You will take home not only a candle you poured yourself or a small jar of honey but also a gentle feeling of warmth.
Through her sincerity and love for her work, Irena shows that beekeeping is not only a craft. It is a way of life, and one that you might want to borrow for a moment.
