Klaipėda Castle Tower – the hottest new attraction on the coast for 2026

The recently opened Klaipėda Castle Tower draws huge crowds and plenty of attention from tourists. As a result, it’s no wonder it’s called one of Lithuania’s top tourism highlights this year. After years of restoration, this historic landmark invites you to discover the city’s past. In addition, you can enjoy incredible architecture and take in panoramic views from the tower’s upper floors. Our whole family was amazed by this place. Without a doubt, we can confidently say it’s one of the most unique sites in Lithuania, and its architecture truly stands out.

At first glance, the newly opened tower impresses with its historic design, but its interior is even more spectacular. There are multiple exhibition floors, modern architecture, a glass elevator, and an atmosphere that feels truly authentic. You can learn about the castle’s history and ride the elevator to the top for views of the Old Town, Danė River, the port, and the Curonian Spit.

You can visit the tower together with Klaipėda Castle Museum. In fact, the museum is free to visit on the last Sunday of every month.

Gnome Village – surprising find for families in Kretinga district

Gnome (Nykštukai) Village in Lithuania is a magical spot near Kretinga. In fact, it feels like a tiny wonderland for kids. Our kids were thrilled, and we couldn’t believe such a place exists in Lithuania. For your summer travels, be sure to save this spot.

Specifically, Gnome Village is at the “Vienkiemis” rural tourism homestead in Padvariai village, Kretinga district. It’s right next to an open-air restaurant. After crossing the monkey bridge, you enter a space filled with small houses. Suddenly, you feel like you’ve stepped into a real fairy tale.

Kids will find dwarf houses, a windmill, a tiny school, workshops, wooden paths, and many delightful details. They’ll run around, explore the houses, and enjoy the playgrounds. Inside the houses, you’ll find tables, chairs, and other unique items.

Most importantly, this isn’t just a photo stop or a place for lunch. Instead, it’s a wonderful leisure space. Kids can roam freely, explore, and discover every corner!
